Jim Brickman is definitely one of my favorite modern composers so I jumped at the chance to go. He was performing with the NC Symphony as part of the debut of the new Durham Performing Arts Center. The DPAC is a beautiful building that I am excited to have in Durham's newly revitalized downtown area. In the five and half years I've lived in the triangle, a lot has been done to make downtown a more exciting (and safer) place to be.

Anyway...Jim is quite the performer. He had some 'moves' that were pretty typical of most musical stage performers...a little over the top. Lisa and I had a good chuckle with them. Not only did he perform with the NC Symphony but also with tour partners, Tracy Silverman (an electric violinist), Anne Cochran (a beautiful mezzo), and Mark Masri (apparently the male version of Celine Dion).
Overall it was a pretty decent concert. It made me miss having a working piano, though... a lot.
